軽量Linuxディストリビューション

LubuntuはUbuntuと比べて軽量であると開発者は述べている。

軽量Linuxディストリビューション（英語: lightweight Linux distribution）とは比較的限られた計算資源のみで動作するLinuxディストリビューションである。

軽量ディストリビューションには明確な定義は無いが、実例としてAbsolute Linuxのポール・シャーマンは「軽量には2つの意味がある。古いハードウェアでも動作することと、OSインタフェースがユーザーの邪魔をしないことだ。」[1]と述べている。

軽量と定義されるディストリビューション

Debianベース

  • CrunchBang Linux (開発終了)
  • WindOS - Debianをベースとしたライブディストリビューション。起動時のイニシャルメモリ消費量が60MB以下。開発が停滞している[2]。

Ubuntuベース

  • Basix - ユーザーのカスタマイズを想定した軽量ディストリビューション[3]。
  • Bodhi Linux - Ubuntu 10.04をベースにした軽量で最小限のディストリビューション[4]。
  • Kona Linux - WindOSから派生したディストリビューション（8種類のKona Linux 2.3のうち、軽量化指向なのは、デスクトップ環境LXDEを用いたlightとblack）[5]。
  • LinuxBean - 初心者でも使いやすい軽量ディストリビューション[6]。
  • Lubuntu - Ubuntuと比べて軽量[7]。
  • Trisquel Mini - GNU FSDGに適合する100%自由ソフトで構成されたOS。
  • XPUD - 64MBのディストリビューション[8]。
  • Xubuntu - UbuntuやKubuntuと比較して軽量[9]。
