国家敬礼

国家敬礼(Qaumii Salaam、テンプレート:Lang-dv)は、モルディブの国歌。Muhammad Jameel Didiが作詞し、Pandit Wannakuwattawaduge Don Amaradevaが作曲した。

1948年まで、モルディブの国歌はSalaamathiと呼ばれるもので、音楽だけであり歌詞は無かった。1948年、若い詩人でありのちの最高裁判所長官であるMuhammad Jameel Didiが作詞した。このとき彼が書いた詞はウルドゥー語の詩の影響を受け、アラビア語から言葉を借用してつくられた。そのあと、Muhammad Jameel Didiはこの詞に合う曲を探し、彼の叔父が持っていた時計から流れる正午のチャイムに使われていた「オールド・ラング・サイン」（日本では「蛍の光」として親しまれている)を曲に使用することとした。こうして新しい国歌は完成し、1948年に制定された。

1950年代と1960年代を通じて、国歌はモルディブではさほど重視されていなかった。1972年に旧宗主国であるイギリスのエリザベス2世女王がモルディブを訪問することになったとき、政府は新しい曲が必要であると判断し、スリランカ人の作曲家であるPandit Wannakuwattawaduge Don Amaradevaに作曲を依頼した。この際旧歌詞はほぼ保持されたが、モルディブが1968年以来独立していることを示すためわずかな変更が加えられた。こうしてほぼ従来の歌詞に新しい曲をつけた新国歌が1972年に制定され使用されることとなった。
